Ludhiana city, one of the largest cities in the northern part of India, is considered as the largest industrial city of Punjab. The city covers the area of almost 310 square kilometer. The city is located at the old banks of the Sutlej river, which is 13 km away in the southwards direction at present. The renowned Punjab Agricultural University is located on the outskirts of Ludhiana city. It is home to the Museum of Rural Life, which displays pottery, musical instruments and traditional Punjabi clothing. In its nearby location, leafy Nehru Rose Garden is built which features ornamental fountains and more than one thousand different rose varieties. To the north, Maharaja Ranjit Singh War Museum is located that documents Punjabi military history.

The city is well known for its textile industry and engineering centre which is efficient in exporting woolen clothes, machine tools, dyes, cycle elements, mopeds, stitching machines and motor elements across the nation or even worldwide in some business firms.
